The Garden House
One of my all time favourite places to go to rejuvenate the soul, get inspiration, and generally feel good, is The Garden House in Buckland Monachorum. I’ve been meaning to go for about a month but had been rather waylaid… Finally we managed to get there though, with beautiful sunshine to boot!
One of the wonderful things about the Garden House is the diversity in the garden and planting. It’s described as a ‘gently flowing series of garden rooms and spaces… that link diverse planting styles and landscaping surprises.’ Lots of different styles and landscapes are woven together to create pockets of natural beauty. There’s a romantic walled garden with 16th century ruins, a new arboretum, cottage gardens and more modern Piet Oudolf inspired prairie style planting.
Lots of benches are nestled away, creating hideaways to sit and enjoy the landscapes, and the cafe is also great., with an enviable wisteria covered terrace. Below are some photos taken in-between drinking tea and marvelling over the staggering Dogwoods…
